Outstanding Faculty
We are proud of the dedication and qualifications of our teachers. Research has shown that the effectiveness of the teacher is the primary factor in a child’s educational progress and journey. That is why at Sacred Heart School, we support an excellent, credentialed teaching faculty. Our teachers are very experienced and many hold advanced degrees. Both our homeroom and specialty teachers hold degrees in the subjects that they teach, allowing them to deliver great depth in knowledge as well as passion for the subjects they teach.
By tradition and mission, Sacred Heart School promotes the development of the whole child: academically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Moral choices and character development are just as strongly emphasized as educational performance and academic achievement. The emphasis on the complete person of the child, in partnership with parents, contributes to a deep understanding of the strengths and needs of each child in our care allowing us to be able to serve to their individual needs.
At Sacred Heart children learn in a culture that fosters a strong sense of responsibility to utilize our talents, skills, and knowledge to serve others and contribute to making the world a better place.
Sacred Heart’s learning program is forward-thinking and challenges children to extend their distinctive abilities. Our dedicated faculty has designed a rigorous academic program that develops skills and emphasizes positive attitudes towards learning. Our curriculum intentionally takes a deep dive into content to help students discover new talents and interests and gain the required skills and habits to ensure future success. Skill development and inquiry-based learning in a rich and supportive environment is the hallmark of our school.
Our exceptional credentialed teachers focus on the needs of each child and utilize cutting-edge technology programs to address a wide range of learning styles. A rigorous core curriculum emphasizes a sense of discovery and instills a lifelong love of learning through engaging and memorable learning experiences.
Although our students’ standardized test scores are very strong (two-thirds of the student population score in the top quartile on the Renaissance STAR Assessment in Math and Reading), test scores alone cannot monitor the growth of the whole child. Achievement of our School-wide Learning Expectations informs parents and teachers on the multifaceted progress a child is making on the journey towards our overall educational goals.
Respectful behavior is highly valued at Sacred Heart and developed by establishing and modeling positive relationships among students, and between teachers and students. Each child is personally greeted by their teachers at the start of each day as a way of forming those relationships that enhance the learning experience. Our focus on values, ethics, and faith further compliments our goal of educating the whole child.
The Nation’s Report Card and Catholic Schools
Sacred Heart students perform very well on standardized assessments in all academic subject areas, and our graduates perform exceptionally well in their high schools of choice. The most recent national reading and mathematics assessment results show Catholic schools continue to stand out. NAEP, also referred to as the “nation’s report card,” is considered the leading indicator of student achievement. The assessments are the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what our nation’s students know and can do in subjects such as mathematics, reading, science and writing.
