Relay for Life
On April 23rd Sacred Heart’s 8th grade class is taking on a very ambitious project, hosting a Mini-Relay for Life just for our Parish to raise money for the American Cancer Society®. All Sacred Heart parishioners are invited and encouraged to participate.
Here are some great ways that you can support this event:
- Purchase luminary bags and/or make a donation to honor those in your life that have battled cancer. These luminaries will line our field during the Relay.
- Register to participate in the Relay on April 23rd. Dinner will begin at 5:00pm followed by the Relay event on the school field 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The deadline for advanced meal orders has been extended to April 13th.
- If you are a cancer survivor and a Sacred Heart parishioner, the 8th graders would love for you to participate in the Survivor lap, the first lap of the Relay. We want to honor you and celebrate your life. Contact Caroline Johnson at cjbj7@aol.com for the survivor invitation.
- Please contact Denise Murphy at denisemurphy@comcast.net for further information regarding registration or luminary purchases.
- Download the order form today and return it to the School office.
The American Cancer Society® Relay For Life® already exists in the Saratoga community, providing an overnight walk-a-thon event where community members have the opportunity to honor cancer survivors and remember those who have battled cancer while raising money for the American Cancer Society. Because participation as a school in the overnight event would be difficult, the 8th graders are hosting a Mini-Relay for Life as their third trimester service project, open to our students and parishioners only. All of the money raised in our Mini-Relay will be donated to the American Cancer Society® in the name of Sacred Heart, as additional contribution to the broader Saratoga community event that takes place in July.
