S.W.O.O.S.H.
SWOOSH is an acronym that stands for Students With Outstanding Originality at Sacred Heart, which was coined by one of our teacher's aides, Elisa Morgan. All of our students have a variety of talents, which make them unique members of the Sacred Heart community. Sacred Heart students who have achieved academic excellence as well as students who have achieved outstanding recognition for accomplishments in a variety of activities are featured in this section.
Postage Palooza
Mrs. Hinkley’s Third Grade Class with the help of Sacred Heart School’s art instructor, Ms. Tomaino, found a way to use their artistic skills not only for fun but also for profit. Thanks also go to Patty Raak (School Board President ’07-08) who introduced Ms. Tomaino to a website called POSTAGEPALOOZA ... on this website information is given as to how a child can create his or her very own U.S. postage stamp (or note cards, postcards, stationery, etc.) and have their artwork generate money for the school. Students designed and submitted their artwork and were able to create their very own postage stamp. Through the sale of these stamps students raised $200 and their artwork is immortalized forever.
San Jose Magazine
San Jose Magazine showcases some of the young people in Santa Clara Valley lining up to take the place of today’s newsmakers. Sacred Heart School has been fortunate to feature three very talented 8th grade students for their excellence not only academically, but also athletically, artistically, and in altruistic commitment to the community.
In the May 2006 San Jose Magazine featured Miss Elizabeth Carte. She went on to St. Francis High School.
In the May 2007 Miss Helen Greene was featured. She went on to Notre Dame High School.
Stay tuned for our 2008 featured student!
