Welcome to Math Class

At Sacred Heart School we follow the California State Standards for mathematics.  We offer differentiated instruction at most grade levels.  When students reach a fluency or automaticity in their math facts, and therefore have a solid foundation they are able to move more quickly through material.   Through teacher observation, formal and informal assessment students are placed into different math groupings. 

We begin this process in second grade and carry it though eighth grade.   Often there is movement between the groupings.  At the junior high level, the students test into pre-algebra and algebra.
